This is where it all began.

In 2009, I traveled to a former Russian military base in Adyliget, Hungary, to earn my RKC Instructor certification. Probably I was one of the first in the UK! With over 20 years of combat sports and strength training already under my belt, I thought I knew strength.

Then I met Pavel Tsatsouline.

That experience didn’t just teach me new exercises—it completely rewrote my understanding of what strength is, how it’s built, and how it should be applied. It was a masterclass in skill, control, and functional resilience.

Two years later, in 2011, I was back in Hungary for the RKC Level 2 course—the very last one before Pavel founded StrongFirst. This photo is a testament to the journey, the principles, and the unwavering standard of excellence that was set that day.
